Can I Use My YouTube Transcripts as Real Estate Blog Posts?

Yes, the transcript of an informative real estate video can be converted into a high-quality real estate blog post that boosts your overall SEO performance. There's a lot of similarity in how buyers and sellers search on both Google and YouTube.

Real estate blogging is a great way to attract buyers and sellers to your website. But, there are a couple things you should know before you start dumping your video transcripts on your blog!

1. Make Sure Your Headlines are Optimized Correctly

You want the main keyword/topic in both your video and blog post headline. In some cases, you might want to use your video title word-for-word as your blog post headline.

But I've seen some YouTubers writing really outlandish titles for their videos -- titles that may not work as well on a blog post. Just be careful and make sure both the video title and article headline are written and optimized correctly for real estate SEO.

2. Don't Dump the Entire Transcript Into the Blog Post Without Editing

In your video, you probably

  • introduce yourself

  • welcome people to your YouTube channel and/or to the video they're watching

  • ask them to subscribe

  • invite them to watch related videos

  • etc., etc.

Pretty much none of that belongs in an article on your real estate blog. Edit all that stuff out of the written version.

3. Optimize for SEO

Your YouTube transcript might be written for vocal delivery and auditory listening. You may not think in terms of sections, headings, bullet lists, etc. when you record your videos.

But all those things are part of doing SEO for blog posts. As you convert your transcript, look for opportunities to break the spoken script into more readable chunks with SEO-friendly H2s and H3s.

4. Don't Force Yourself to Stick Word-for-Word to the Video Transcript

In the process of doing the above, you're allowed -- and I'd encourage it -- to rewrite and expand on what you said in the video.

And yes, even if you've changed the script, you can still embed the video in your blog post. No reader is going to hold it against you if the written article isn't a 100% match to the video. (They probably won't watch/read both, anyway.)

Final Thoughts

As long as you're doing quality videos on topics that people search for during the process of buying or selling real estate, it makes a lot of sense to take your YouTube transcripts and turn them into great blog posts. Just make sure to do more than dump your title and transcript into an un-optimized article. That won't help your SEO as much as it should.
