Google is Personalizing AI Overviews to Your Location

- Google AI Overviews
Working in real estate SEO, I do a lot of "moving to [LOCATION]" searches and the like.
I've just started seeing, for the first time, Google inserting my location into its AI Overview responses. It looks like this, with "Moving from [MY LOCATION] to [LOCATION]" at the beginning of the reply:
Not gonna lie, having that personalization really caught my eye and made me slow down and read the AIO...something I normally don't do!
Now, here's the kicker...it only seems to do this when my search term is in my same state.
So if I search for other locations in Washington, where I live, I get the personalized AIO response, like these two examples:
But if I choose a city in another state, like Denver, the personalization doesn't happen. I just get a normal AIO response.
Things get even weirder when I search "moving to atlanta." Google again tries to personalize it for location, but instead thinks I'm in New York. (!!)
I don't know if I'm in a test or if this is happening to other searchers, too. The fact that Google is forcing that "New York to Atlanta" connection makes me think we're gonna see a lot more of this kind of personalization in AIOs.
