Best Time to Post on Social Media? (Hint: There is none...)

You've probably heard people talk about the best time to post on social media, or the best time to send an email. "If you post on Facebook at 10 AM on Monday, it'll have the best chance of being seen."

But think about it ... if EVERYONE posts at 10 AM on Monday, no one's posts are gonna be seen.

The experts usually say Tuesday/Wednesday are the best days to send newsletters. But a few years ago, I sent an email to almost 600 leads in my wife's database on a Sunday at 4 PM. That email had the highest open rate of any email we sent all year. 🔥

Going back even further, I once accidentally scheduled a blog post to publish at 11:30 PM on a Monday night. And I had it set up so that social media posts would go out as soon as articles were published. A Big Name influencer-type saw the link to my article, shared it with his audience, and that ended up being my 2nd- or 3rd-most popular article of the year.

Moral of the story?

Don't blindly follow the "best time to post" stuff. Your audience might be different from the gurus' audiences.

And if my experience is any indication -- from that Sunday afternoon email and late-night Monday blog post -- sometimes it's really smart to communicate with your audience when there's nothing else competing for their attention.
